Disclosure: We make HelpDock, one of the apps on this list. We’ve tried to be fair: every app below has a real use case, and we say where HelpDock is not the right choice. Prices, plans and ratings were checked on the Shopify App Store on October 25, 2026, and can change.

A good FAQ answers questions before they reach your inbox. A Shopify FAQ app makes that easier with search, categories, product-page FAQs and better design than a plain page. But FAQ apps solve quite different problems, and the “best” one depends on what you need.

Quick picks:

  • No budget, simple FAQ page: your theme’s built-in Collapsible content section.
  • Classic FAQ page with search, free to start: HelpLab FAQ Page or Trusted Help Center & FAQ.
  • Accordions for product descriptions and FAQ pages: EasySlide Accordion tabs & FAQ.
  • FAQ plus an AI chatbot: StoreFAQ.
  • Lowest-cost paid plans: D: AI FAQ Page.
  • Free with unlimited FAQs and chat buttons: RT: Instant FAQ, Help Center.
  • FAQ plus order tracking and self-service on every page: HelpDock.

How to choose a Shopify FAQ app

Ask yourself five questions before you install anything.

1. Where should the answers appear?

  • On a dedicated FAQ page (classic help center).
  • On product pages (sizing, materials, care).
  • In a widget on every page (customers ask from wherever they are).

2. What is the free plan really limited by? Free plans in this category are capped in very different ways: number of FAQs (10, 15), page views (100 per month) or features (no search, a watermark). A cap of 10 FAQs is fine for a new store and too small for most established ones.

3. Do customers need search? Once you have more than about 20 questions, customers stop scrolling and start searching. Check which plan includes the search bar.

4. How many languages do you sell in? Multi-language support is usually on a higher plan.

5. Do you want more than an FAQ? Some apps add AI chat, order tracking or contact forms. That can replace a second app, or add features you don’t need.

A note on SEO and “rich results”: many FAQ apps promote FAQ schema for Google rich results. Since August 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. FAQ structured data doesn’t hurt your store, but for most stores it no longer adds expandable questions to search results. What still helps SEO is a real FAQ page with clear, useful answers that Google can crawl.

Option 0: Your theme’s FAQ section (no app)

Most free Shopify themes, including Dawn, have a Collapsible content section. Create a page template (for example “faq”), add the section in the theme editor, and add one collapsible row per question.

  • Good: free, fast, no app, matches your theme.
  • Missing: search, categories, product-specific FAQs on many themes, analytics.
  • Choose it if: you have fewer than 20 questions and a small catalog.

HelpLab FAQ Page, Product FAQs

A popular FAQ page builder with Built for Shopify status. It covers both a store FAQ page and product FAQs, and integrates with the Shop app.

  • Free: 10 FAQs, unlimited categories, customization, custom CSS, Google SEO snippets, import and export.
  • Essentials ($3.99/mo): 30 FAQs, search bar.
  • Professional ($7.99/mo): unlimited FAQs, multiple languages, FAQs on product and other pages, premium templates.
  • Choose it if: you want a polished FAQ page and product FAQs, and you’re fine paying once you pass 10 questions.

Trusted Help Center & FAQ

A help center style FAQ page with Built for Shopify status, plus FAQs on products, collections and blog posts.

  • Free: main FAQ page on its own URL, prepared templates, full design customization.
  • Paid ($4.99/mo, $49.99/yr or $79 one-time): product FAQs and custom placement.
  • Choose it if: you want a help center page on the free plan, or prefer a one-time payment over a subscription.

EasySlide Accordion tabs & FAQ

Less an FAQ app than an accordion tool: it turns long product descriptions and page content into accordion tabs, and can turn a page into an FAQ. It has Built for Shopify status and is WCAG 2.0 / Section 508 compliant, according to its listing.

  • Price: $5/month, with a 7-day free trial. No free plan.
  • Includes: unlimited shared and product accordions, FAQ page accordions, translations, integrations with review and size-chart apps.
  • Choose it if: your main problem is long product pages, and an FAQ page is a bonus.

StoreFAQ: Product FAQ Chatbot

An FAQ builder with an AI chatbot, instant answers and live chat, with Built for Shopify status. It can also connect to AI assistants through MCP to manage FAQs by chat.

  • Free: unlimited FAQs, but up to 100 FAQ page views, and 25 AI chatbot conversations in total.
  • Professional ($7.99/mo): 500 FAQ page views, 50 AI conversations a month. Growth ($14.99/mo) and Enterprise ($49.99/mo) raise the limits.
  • Note: pricing is usage-based above the limits (extra page views and AI conversations are charged).
  • Choose it if: you want AI chat on top of your FAQ and can estimate your traffic.

D: AI FAQ Page

An FAQ page builder with 12+ templates and AI-generated FAQs, with some of the lowest paid prices in the category.

  • Free: 1 FAQ category, up to 15 FAQs, templates, search, PDF export.
  • Paid: Startup $2.99/mo (30 FAQs), Pro $4.99/mo (60 FAQs, email notifications), Unlimited $6.99/mo (unlimited FAQs, multiple languages, AI generation).
  • Choose it if: you want a template-based FAQ page and the lowest price per tier.

RT: Instant FAQ, Help Center

A simple free FAQ app with unlimited FAQs, a search bar and buttons for WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram and other chat apps.

  • Price: free.
  • Note: a reviewer mentions a small watermark.
  • Choose it if: you want unlimited FAQs for free and use messaging apps for support.

HelpDock

HelpDock is our app, and it isn’t a classic FAQ page builder. It adds a help widget to every page of your store where customers:

  • search your FAQ (you can import the FAQs you already have on your theme or pages),
  • look up an order with the order number and email and see the status and tracking link,
  • and, if you allow it, cancel an order, change the shipping address, start a return or report a damaged item, within your rules.

Questions that still need you arrive as tickets with the topic and order attached, and analytics show which searches found no answer.

  • Free: help widget with unlimited FAQs, unlimited order tracking, contact form, 50 tickets a month, 7-day analytics.
  • Pro ($4.99/mo): unlimited tickets, full analytics, no “Powered by HelpDock”.
  • Plus ($12.49/mo): self-service cancellations, address changes, returns and damage reports.

When HelpDock is not the right choice: if you want a dedicated FAQ page for SEO or FAQs on product pages, use one of the page-based apps above. HelpDock shows answers in a widget, not as a crawlable FAQ page. HelpDock is also new (launched October 2026) and doesn’t have reviews yet.

Choose it if: most of your emails are about orders, not products, and you want the FAQ, order tracking and order changes in one place.

Our recommendation

  • Fewer than 20 questions: start with your theme’s section. Move to an app when customers start asking things that are already answered.
  • A real FAQ page for customers and Google: HelpLab or Trusted Help Center, both with Built for Shopify status and strong reviews.
  • Product questions are the main issue: a product FAQ app (HelpLab, Trusted, StoreFAQ) or EasySlide for accordions.
  • Order questions are the main issue: an FAQ alone won’t stop “where is my order?” emails. Combine an FAQ with order tracking and self-service, for example with HelpDock, alongside an FAQ page app if you want one for SEO.

Whatever you choose, the content matters more than the app. Our guide to reducing “where is my order?” emails lists the shipping questions every FAQ should answer, and the Black Friday checklist covers the sale questions to add before November.

Quick answers

Do I need an app for a Shopify FAQ page?

Not necessarily. Most free Shopify themes, including Dawn, have a Collapsible content section you can add to a page template. An app helps when you want search, categories, product-page FAQs, many languages or analytics.

Do FAQ apps get my store FAQ rich results in Google?

Probably not. Since August 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. FAQ structured data doesn’t hurt, but for most stores it no longer adds the expandable questions to search results.

What is the best free FAQ app for Shopify?

It depends on what free means for you. Some free plans cap the number of FAQs (10 or 15), others cap page views, and some are free with a small watermark. Check the limit that matters for your store before installing.

What should a Shopify FAQ include?

Shipping times and costs, order tracking, changes and cancellations, returns and exchanges, payment methods, sizing or product care, and how to contact you. Write each answer with real numbers and dates.
